This number's a little inflated and it’s easy to think Over when you look at these line-ups but both teams have stacked pitching staffs too. In a win or go home scenario there’s no saving a pitcher for another day. Everyone is available and they’ll be bringing out elite MLB arms one after the other. These all-world line-ups have also been a bit underwhelming. USA’s team OPS of .847 looks good but that’s inflated from a 9 run 1st inning against Canada. They’ve also faced very little pitching competition in their 4 group stage games. Canada, Great Britain, and Colombia have next to no MLB pitchers. Even Mexico’s pitching staff handled the USA line-up for most of the game before “breaking through” and scoring 3 while down 7 runs against a reliever with just 7 career MLB appearances in 2016. Venezuela’s team OPS of .844 is again solid, but they still couldn’t score more than 5 runs against Israel’s and Nicaragua’s pitching staffs. To say USA’s arms are significantly better than those 2 teams is an understatement. Outside of the Mexico game team USA has allowed just 5 runs and Venezuela has a team era of just 2.0 (2nd best) in the WBC. Back the Under.
