The White Sox have the SP advantage on paper but CWS SP Dylan Cease is making his first career start at Coors and it's another hitters day in the Mile High altitude. Cease pitches a lot like Michael Kopech. from the other day. Throwing his fastball 42.3% of the time and ranking in the 94th percentile of spin rate. He'll have to adjust to Coors on the fly. He also has a 4.98 Road ERA and a 5.79 ERA in the Month of August.
COL SP Chris Flexen has seen better days. He has a 7.74 ERA this season after posting sub 4 ERA in each of the previous 2. He pitched well enough to give COL a chance to win last time out. Allowing 4ER over 6IP at home. He shouldn't be asked to record too many outs though. The Rockies get the day off tomorrow and their bullpens incredibly rested. Over the last 3 days, the most any COL bullpen arm has thrown is 22 pitches. 2 of their top 3 arms haven't thrown a single pitch.
Despite the favorable hitting conditions, the White Sox have only scored 6 runs through the first 2 games of this series. Just 1 of those runs was scored against the Colorado bullpen too. They're hitting .238 with a .638 OPS over their last 4 games.
The Rockies offense is also on fire. Hitting .326 with a .986 OPS over their last 5 games. Ever since Charlie Blackmon returned they've been rolling. They scored 14 and 11 runs in the first two games of this series. They've also tagged the White Sox 26th ranked bullpen for 5 and 6 runs in those two. Even if Cease pitches well for the White Sox, Colorado will have chances against their Pen.
