Ryne Nelson continues to Dominate away from Chase Field. He has a 2.67 ERA through 11 road start. He's allowed 3 ER or less in all but one of his road starts. A Start at the hitter friendly Coors Field. He shut down the Atlanta Braves (#1 Offense in Baseball) in his last road start. 7 IP, 3 Hits, 2 ER, 1 BB. He gave up a pair of Solo Homeruns. He pitched at SF on June 25th and held them to 1 ER on 7IP too. Offensively SF is really struggling. They rank dead last in OPS since the All-Star Break and are averaging less than 4 runs per game during that span.
Jakob Junis and the SF bullpen will are tasked with recording 27 outs for SF. Junis makes his first start of 2023 and has a 4.79 ERA as a reliever. He's allowed at least 2 runs in 5 of his last 8 relief appearances (17 IP, 6.35 ERA). He faced AZ once this year and allowed 2 Runs on 1.2 IP. The D-Backs have struggled a bit since the break but their offense ranks 13th with a .755 OPS since then while averaging 4.53 runs per game (would rank 14th on the year).
The D-Backs just traded for Paul Sewald. The SEA Closer to help sure up some bullpen struggles. The vote of confidence from the front office to the players is an added bonus. The D-Backs have also won 4 of the last 6 vs SF and it's not like SF is playing great ball either. Just 4-7 their last 11.
