7:05pm est: Red Sox ML -105 (3 Units)
The Red Sox offense continues to dominate. They've scored 6+ in 6 of their last 7 games and have scored 10 and 9 runs in the first 2 games of this series. They're hitting .337 with a .981 OPS over their last 5. As good as Sonny Gray was to open the season he's been struggling of late. He had a 3.91 ERA through May and a 3.45 ERA through 3 June starts.
He's been laboring in his last 2. He allowed 1 ER in 5 innings of work against Toronto on the 9th. Then he completed just 4 innings allowing 2 ER vs the Tigers in his last start. He threw 79 pitches, walked 4, and allowed 3 hits. He's sporting a BA against of .286 and a WHIP of 1.53 in June. Tough matchup to get back on track. Boston's put up 11 runs on the Twins bullpen through 2 games too.
Garret Whitlock starts for Boston and he's pitched very well in recent weeks. He went 7 IP allowing 2 ER vs COL his last time out and 1 ER vs the NYY on 6.1 IP the last time out. He gets a Twins offense that's really struggling. Touched on this Monday when we used Boston. They haven't scored more than 4 runs in 7 straight games and rank 23rd in baseball through the Month of June. 6 of the 9 players for MIN tonight have a batting average starting with .1 over the last week and Carlos Correa is sitting at .227.
9:45pm est: Giants ML +105 (4 Units)
Yu Darvish is struggling. He's allowed 10ER over 10.1 IP over his last two starts. The start prior he threw 7 scoreless against Chicago but he allowed 7 ER on 2.2 IP against the Yankees before that. He has a 6.19 Road ERA across 6 starts and he's been terrible against the Giants. He has a 6.26 career ERA vs SF (10 Starts) and a 10.13 ERA (4 Starts) at AT&T Park.
He faces a Giants lineup that's averaging 8.44 Runs per game over their last 9 games. They've scored 7+ in 7 of those 9 too. Of the 9 players with previous at bats against Darvish, 7 of them have a batting average north of .300. Joc Pederson hits .235 and Brandon Crawford hits .188. Crawford has a BA of .400 and OBP of .478 over his last 7 games.
The Padres bullpen is also terrible. They were handed the ball with a lead in each of the first two games of this set and proceeded to lose both. That's using their best relievers too so they'll be forced into even less appealing options today.
It's a bullpen day for San Francisco. They've climbed all the way up to 9th in ERA at 3.7 after an absymal start to 2023. They have 7 guys in the Pen with an ERA at 3.05 or below at the moment. Emilio Duval has been stellar, earning a save in 19 of his 21 opportunities. The return to form from the Rogers brothers has certainly revamped their bullpen. They've each allowed just 1 Run in their last 15 appearances.
Offensively the Padres have scored just 16 runs in their last 5 games. They also hit just .219 as a team when on the road. The Giants have won 9 straight games, 2nd to the Reds who are currently sporting an 11 game streak.
