7:00PM EST: (Texas Tech) Tahj Brooks Over 100.5 Rushing Yards (2 Units)
Brooks has had 98 or more rushing yards in each of his last 6 games. He's averaging 110.9 rushing yards per game and 5.5 yards per carry this season. He's also gone over this yardage total in 2 of the 3 games that Behren Morton played the majority of QB snaps in. Tech lost starting TB Tyler Shough in week 4, then Morton took over before eventually getting hurt against Kansas State. He then gave way to 3rd stringer Jake Strong.
Strong is a too turnover prone, throwing 3 interceptions in each of his 2 games. It forces Tech to abandon the ground game when they trail. The Starting QB Tyler Shough is a legitimate passer so they don't have to lean on Brooks so heavily. But Morton is a good enough QB to avoid mistakes and keep them in the game while utilizing the strong ground game. The good news is that Morton is back and starting in this game following a bye week.
The TCU run defense has been gashed for 157.7 rushing yards per game. Kansas State ran for 343 yards on them in their most recent game, Iowa State ran for 215, and WVU 201. That's 3 of their last 4 games. The 4th came against an outmatched BYU team that still saw their top 2 backs combine for over 100 yards.
Brooks is averaging 24.8 carries per game since their starting QB got hurt and they're going to continue feeding him tonight. Negative game script also limited him further opportunities. This should remain a competitive game tonight with Tech QB Behren Morton under center. Good spot to back the breakout Senior RB.
