2 Picks (6 Units).
6:30PM EST: Villanova +4 (3 Units).
The Kyle Neptune era at Villanova has been disappointing to say the least. He wasn't expected to fill Jay Wright's shoes, but he's pretty much been a total flop. It's a consistency issue more than anything but 1 thing still holds true and it's that Villanova plays tough at Home. In 3 seasons at Home under Neptune they’ve gone 10-4, 10-6 and are currently 4-1 this year. Take a look at last year's home games against the top teams in the Big East and they lost by 2 to Creighton, by 5 to Marquette, and by 1 to UConn. That pretty much sums up the Neptune led Wildcats.
Villanova's ranked 27th in 3-PT shooting on the season and shooting 43.4% from deep at Home. They're 28th in rebound rate while Cinci sits ranks 21st. The Wildcats offense has been good, and they've been tested. They went into Maryland and lost 75-76 against a very good Terps defense a couple games back. The defensive woes early are a bit surprising considering they finished 13th in Adj D last season. That should tighten up as the season moves along but this is more of a sell high spot on Cinci. They've looked great and they're ranked 14th but their toughest game came against Georgia Tech. Their Strength of Schedule ranks 338th, they have yet to play in a competitive game, and they're getting a lot of minutes from new guys this year. It's never that easy and this is as tough a road environment as there is.
7:00PM EST: Miami +5.5 (3 Units).
It's been an ugly start to the season for Miami. They're 1-6 ATS this season, lost 4 straight, and their best players dealing with an injury. The first game without your star is always the most difficult and they should be better adjusted for tonight. Their defense has been terrible, but Arkansas's offense has certainly struggled, especially on the Road. The one thing Miami can do is shoot the lights out from deep, even without Pack. As a team they've shot 40.7% from deep at Home and they'll need that against an Arkansas defense that ranks 314th in opponent 3-PT Rate. It's what killed Arkansas in their most recent 77-90 loss @ Illinois, allowing the Illini to shoot 15/31 from Deep. With their backs against the wall at Home with a favorable offensive matchup we like the Canes to put up a fight. HC Jim Larranaga's been there since 2011 and they've enjoyed plenty of success under his tenure. Buy Low spot on the Canes.
