Gallen's been a machine at home, 1.82 ERA with 92 strikeouts over 12 home starts and 79.1 IP. He has 8 strikeouts in each of his last 2 home starts. He also struck out 6 Rangers in Texas earlier this year despite pitching just 5 innings. Texas's offense has been struggling at the plate. They're hitting .164 with a .520 OPS over the last week. That ranks dead last in baseball. They're also averaging over 11 strikeouts per game over their last 4. They're also significantly worse on the road with an OPS .107 points lower away from Home.
The Diamondbacks also need Gallen to provide length tonight, as their bullpen is heavily taxed. Arizona had a double-header on Saturday and then pitched 11 innings yesterday. 6 of their 8 relievers pitched yesterday and 5 of them have thrown 40+ pitches in the previous 3 days. The only rested arms ARI has are Miguel Castro (14.4 ERA L7 Games) and Joe Mantiply (9.53 ERA L7 Games). ARI has off tomorrow but proceed to play 7 games in 7 days after that. This is exactly what top of the line Aces like Gallen are for and we expect Torey Lovullo to let him go.

D-Backs: Ketel Marte Over 1.5 Bases.
Marte appears poised to breakout of his August slumps. He's slashing .273/.353/.831 on the season but just .149/.240.284 in August. He's hit 20 homeruns on the year, which ranks 3rd among 2nd baseman. His latest coming last night in the bottom of the 9th against Rangers closer Aroldis Chapman, tying the game 1-1. He's too good a player to struggle for long and he's already started taking quality at bats.
He's come up to the plate 10 times in his last 2 games. He has 2 hits and a walk. However he has 5 Hard Hit balls (Exit Velo 95mph+) and 2 more with Exit Velo just above 93MPH. He's also only struck out once. He's seeing the ball well and making good contact. He's just happened to hit it right at people. He gets a very friendly SP matchup tonight. Marte has a career .419 BA in 31 at bats against Rangers starter Jon Gray. He went 2 for 2 with a HR against Gray earlier this season too.
