The Seattle Seahawks (0-2) and Dallas Cowboys (1-1) close out their NFL pre-season tonight. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. eastern time at AT&T Stadium Arlington, TX. The game will air nationally on NFL Network.
Seahawks
Pete Carroll has yet to name a starting QB for their season opener against the Denver Broncos. It’s a battle between Geno Smith and Drew Lock. Unfortunately for Lock he came down with Covid last week and couldn’t play in week 2 of the pre-season so as it stands Smith is the presumed favorite to start week 1. Lock still has a chance to be named starter if he plays well tonight and Carroll is giving him that opportunity. Geno Smith is expected to start with the 1’s but be replaced by Drew Lock early. Carroll’s claimed Lock may play up to 3 quarters in this game.
Cowboys
The Cowboys just got terrible news regarding stud Left Tackle Tyron Smith. He’s expected to be out 2-3 months with a torn hamstring. An offensive line that used to be the strength of Dallas’s offense is now riddled with question marks. They also lost 2 starters from a year ago to free agency. They’re looking at new faces all across the line and their 24th round pick in 2022 hasn’t earned a starting spot yet. As far as tonight goes their starters aren’t expected to suit up so we’ll see a heavy does of Will Grier and some Cooper Rush at QB.

The Pick
I like this game to go Over the posted total of 37.5. Names like Geno Smith and Drew Lock don’t usually come attached to good offenses, but these are still guys with a ton of NFL regular season experience. They’re both more than capable of driving the ball down the field on guys that’ll be watching games from the couch on Sundays. With roster cutdowns and no starters playing, the majority of guys suiting up for Dallas tonight won’t even make the roster. While the Seahawks 1’s on offense are expected to play as they figure out their QB situation, their defensive starters won’t see much action. With Grier and Rush competing for back-up QB duties every snap they take is a meaningful one. Again, going up against fringe roster players I expect them to move the ball. A lot more talent will be showcased on the Offensive side of the ball in this game tonight.
