The 49ers host the Saints in week two of the preseason. The 49ers have been dealing with a plethora of injuries with 23 players missing practice last week, causing HC Kyle Shanahan to cancel joint practice with the Saints this week. This leads to speculation on whether the 49ers will send out their starters this week, especially since their 1st team is set for the most part. The 49ers won't risk more injuries to their starters, playing some, and letting the backups make their case for moving up the depth chart. As for the Saints, they are much better in the injury department, and starters will get some action this weekend. The Saints have plenty of capable players fighting for backup and some even starting positions, notably the battle for QB2 between Spencer Rattler and Jake Haener. Last week both teams had 286 yards of offense. However, the Saints were more balanced having 185 passing and 101 rushing compared to the 49ers' 219 passing and 67 rushing. Expect this game to be close but in the end with the injury issues plaguing the 49ers, take the Saints +1.
