Mattison's only gone over this rushing yardage total in 4 of 6 games so far this season. Minnesota ranks 30th in the NFL averaging just 75 rushing yards per game. Only the Bengals and Raiders have been worse. Last week Mattison ran the ball 18 times and still only had 44 rushing yards (2.4 YPC). San Francisco has one of the best defenses in the NFL and they rank 3rd limiting teams to just 80.2 rushing yards per game.
The Justin Jefferson injury really hurts this Vikings offense. It hurts the passing game which directly affects the run game. They no longer have the elite threat at WR which allows a defense to stack the box. Last week was the first full game they played without Jefferson and his 2.4 yards per carry was by far his worst mark of the season. Game script could also limit his opportunities tonight. The 49ers offense struggled against a good Browns defense last week but the Vikings defense ranks in the bottom half of all major statistical categories. Good chance Minnesota's playing catch-up in this game.
