Tyler Shough has been the best story in the league through two weeks, and the numbers back it up. He leads the NFL with 662 passing yards, has thrown four touchdowns against just two interceptions, and added a rushing score in New Orleans' upset win at Baltimore as an 8.5-point underdog. That's not a fluky stat line propped up by garbage time — it's a quarterback playing at a genuinely high level in real, competitive football, and he now gets to do it in front of his home crowd for the first time this season.
That home opener matters, too. New Orleans has covered eight straight games going back to last season, 8-0 against the spread in that stretch and 8-2 over its last 10 overall. Las Vegas is undefeated, but it got there by beating the Dolphins at home and stealing a road win over the Chargers — solid results, not proof this is a battle-tested contender walking into a hostile Superdome.
New Orleans did lose rookie left tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. for the season to a high-ankle sprain, which is worth knowing, but not a reason to fade the Saints — Shough has already shown he can produce behind a shuffled line, and this number is still just a field goal.
Bottom Line: Shough is playing the best football of any quarterback in the league right now, New Orleans gets to open its home slate on an eight-game covering streak, and Las Vegas's 2-0 start hasn't come against much resistance. Lean Saints -3.
