Pick of the Week: Cardinals -2.5
The Giants team that hung 28 points on Dallas in Week 1 isn't the one taking the field Sunday. Jaxson Dart is out for the regular season with a knee injury, and since Jameis Winston took over, New York has managed just 18 points in two games. Last week's 12-7 win over a winless Titans team came without a single touchdown: four field goals, 100 passing yards, and 238 yards of total offense. The Giants traded for J.J. McCarthy this week, but he's still learning the playbook, so it's Winston under center again for an offense that hasn't reached the end zone since Dart went down.
Arizona, meanwhile, is moving the ball with real efficiency. Jacoby Brissett has the Cardinals in the top half of the league in both EPA per play and success rate, and he's coming off a 38-for-52, 272-yard, two-touchdown performance in a 30-point effort at San Francisco. Arizona held the ball for nearly 39 minutes in that game and covered as a road underdog, after opening the season by marching into Los Angeles and beating the Chargers 26-14. Two road games, two covers — this team travels well.
New York's defense took a major hit, too. Brian Burns, the Giants' most dangerous pass rusher, is lost for the season with a torn ACL. That means more time for Brissett to work through his reads against a defense now tasked with carrying an offense that can't find the end zone.
Bottom Line: The Giants haven't scored an offensive touchdown since losing their starting quarterback, and their best pass rusher is gone for the year. Arizona brings the more efficient offense and a perfect road record against the spread into a matchup it should control from start to finish. Lean Cardinals -2.5.
