The Minnesota Twins and Baltimore Orioles meet Tuesday night for game 2 of a 4 game set. The Twins took game 1 by a score of 2-1. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05PM eastern time at Camden yards.
The young electric Joe Ryan will start for the Twins. The former top prospect for the Rays has put the league on notice through his first 4 starts of 2022. Through 4 starts and 23 IP he’s allowed just 10 hits, 3 runs, and he’s racked up 25K’s. He’s been exceptional in his last 2 outings, allowing just 3 total hits without giving up a run across 13 innings.
Bruce Zimmerman takes the mound for the O’s. Like Ryan he’s also off to a fantastic start to 2022. He owns an era of .93 through 4 starts and 19.1 IP. He does a great job keeping the ball on the ground with a 1.19 GO/AO ratio which allows his defense to make plays. He has yet to give up a run in 2 starts at Camden yards this year and he was much better at home last year as well. In 2021 he sported a 3.89 home era compared to a 6.37 road era.
Neither team is great offensively and neither line-up is familiar with the opposing pitcher. Robinson Chirinos is the only Orioles player with AB’s vs Ryan and he went 0-2. Polanco, Sanchez, and Urshela are the only Twins with AB’s vs Zimmerman and they’re a combined 0-7. The recent changes to Camden Yards that pushed the left field wall back by 26.5 ft just make it all the more difficult to score runs.
