7:07pm est: Orioles ML -105 (2 Units)
Kyle Bradish has allowed more than 3 ER in just 3 of his 19 starts this year. He surrendered 5 in his last start but still pitched 6.2 Innings. He was absolutely dealing up until his last start. Posting a 1.62 ERA in the 7 starts (44.1 IP) leading up to his last one. The last time he allowed more than 3 ER in a start he fired back with 6.2 innings of 1 run ball against the #1 scoring offense in baseball. Blue Jays offense has scored just 2 runs in back to back games and Bo Bichette just got injured. He's only the AL Hits leader. O's bullpen is still in decent shape too, they blew out the Yankees 9-3 on Sunday and Gibson threw 6 innings yesterday before passing the Baton.
Hyun Jin Ryu is making his season debut for the Blue Jays tonight. He pitched just 6 games last year and had a 4.37 ERA. His last full season was in 2021 and he had a 4.37 ERA in 31 starts. He's made a few Minor League starts but he hasn't faced an MLB lineup since June of last year. It's a tough opener against a deep Orioles lineup. If he isn't sharp there aren't any holes in the Orioles lineup to escape tough situations. TOR is also without Jordan Romano who has 28 of the Blue Jays 36 saves. Relivers not named Romano are a combined 8 of 15 in Save opportunities.
8:10pm est: Royals ML +130 (4 Units)
Jose Quintana makes his 3rd start of the Year. He was solid in his first two, allowing 5 Runs (4ER) across 11 innings. He faced two very subpar offensive teams. The White Sox and NYY WITHOUT Judge. Since the All-Star Break the CWS rank 24th offensively and the NYY rank 29th. On the Year the CWS rank 27th and the NYY 23rd. Consistently below average. Despite that he's allowed a BA against of .293.
While KC's offense has been putrid this season they're swinging it well currently. Over the past week they're hitting .315 with an OPS of .903. That's the 2nd best in baseball. We used KC the other day and the MIN pitching staff was able to have a good final day of the series but the 2 games prior KC combined to score 18 Runs on 27 Hits. Against the MIN Twins best starters nonetheless.
Zack Greinke starts for KC and he's solid at Home. 3.74 ERA at Home in 2023 and a 1.91 ERA at Home in 2022. He faces a Mets offense that's scored 2 runs or less in 7 of it's 15 games since the All-Star Break. The Royals retained enough of a rested bullpen to have confidence when Greinke leaves. The Mets also traded Tommy Pham today. A + Bat that's been sold along with the rest of the Mets fire sale.
The Mets officially waiving the white flag is also a locker room buzz kill. This was a team with World Series aspirations before the season and they just finished trading two of the best pitchers of the past 20 years. They also traded their closer David Robertson a few days ago along with Dominic Leone and Tommy Pham. It's just not a good time to wear a Mets uniform. Guys waiting around all day to find out which one's been traded and who you have to say goodbye to. Would be hard-pressed to see a motivated Mets team take the field tonight.
