7:05pm est: Orioles ML +110 (3 Units)
Gerrit Cole starts for NY and he's struggled against this Orioles team. Since 2022 (4 Starts) he has a 5.19 ERA vs BAL. In those 4 games the Orioles have scored 2,5,4, and 5. They scored 5 in his 1 start against the Orioles this season. 3 Straight starts allowing 4 Runs or more to Baltimore. BAL's offense last season wasn't nearly as potent as this years either.
Grayson Rodriguez starts for BAL and he's been good since he got called back up. He allowed 2 Runs to TB in 5.2 IP in his last start and 4 ER in 5 IP vs LAD in the start prior (After being called back up). Little bit of tough luck against the Dodgers. He had allowed just 1 run through the first 5 before coming out for the 6th. A deflected ball off the CF's glove ended up a Triple, he then allowed a single and a walk before getting pulled. Reliver allowed a Grand Slam on 2 outs, tacking on 2 more Earned Runs.
He was once again very sharp early against Tampa. He didn't allow a run through the first 5 innings and it was a 2 out single in the 6th that scored both of those runs. He was pulled after that and finished with 5.2 IP.
Now Aaron Judge does return to the lineup tonight but this Yankees offense has been putrid. Judge is also recovering from a foot injury and the only swings he's taken have come in simulated BP against Yankees relievers. He hasn't taken an actual live in game at bat since June 3rd, it's unlikely he's tune. As for the rest of the Yankees they rank 23rd since the All-Star Break. They also ranked 28th in June and are sitting at 23rd for July. Excluding Judge, Gleyber Torres is their #1 hitter with a .765 OPS.
Both teams had off yesterday so the bullpens are ready to go. Yankees have the #1 bullpen in baseball but they've been trending in the wrong direction. BAL isn't far behind at 6th with arguably the best setup/closer duo in baseball.
7:07pm est: Angels ML +165 (3 Units)
The Angels pushed the Chips in and decided to make a run for it. They landed today's starter along with reliver Reynaldo Lopez for a pair of prospects the other day. They're likely to keep buying as they try and get Ohtani/Trout into the playoffs for the first time.
Giolito has been a workhorse for the White Sox the past 5 years. He has a 3.79 ERA through 21 starts in 2023 and the change of scenery should do some good. Going from a team 22 games below .500 that provides very little run support to a team pushing for the playoffs with the best two way player of all time is a welcome change. He faced Toronto back on July 4th and held them to 2 Runs on 4 Hits and a pair of walks in 6IP.
Kevin Gausman gets the nod for TOR. While he's been great this year he does have a 4.24 ERA in July. His worst month to date. He gave up 4 Runs in his last start and 2 Runs in his first 2 July starts. The Angels bats are also on fire. They're hitting .287 with an .876 OPS over the last week. They're the 2nd ranked offense since the All-Star hitting .269 with an .873 OPS while averaging 6.75 Runs per game.
Angels are 9-2 in their last 11 games and are currently riding a 4 game win streak. The Blue Jays meanwhile are 4-5 in their last 9. With the Angels playing as well as they are, getting them at +165 is great value. The front office sent this team a clear message when they went out and got Giolito and they're answering the call.
