MIL caught him with a 3 Run Homer as he struggled with command in the 1st inning of his last start, but he did settle in. He finished after 7 IP allowing 5 ER. Prior to that he had allowed just 4 ER combined in his other 3 starts. One of those starts came against STL. He went 6 IP allowing 2 ER. His 1 road start came @ Fenway Park, one of the most hitter friendly venues, and he shut them out over 5.2 IP. Lively’s slider has been practically unhittable, allowing just 1 hit despite throwing it 110 times.
Offensively the Cardinals are struggling. They’re hitting .210 with an OPS of .668 through the Month of June (6 Games). Through their last 11 games they’re hitting .189 with a .601 OPS, scoring just 27 Runs. They’ve scored 3 Runs or less in 11 of their last 13 games. He allowed 4 Runs total against PIT his last time out although just 1 was earned. He made a start @ CIN on May 22nd and he allowed 4 ER in 4 IP. 10 Reds successfully reached base. His lone start vs CIN last year saw him allow 3 ER in 5.1 IP; 9 Reds reached base. His only start allowing less than 3 Runs in his last 5 came @ CLE (2 ER) and even then he pitched just 5 innings. He’s pitched into the 6th in just 2 of his last 5, going 5.1 vs MIL and 5.2 vs PIT.
The Reds hit .276 with a .759 OPS vs LHP compared to .248 and .714 vs RHP. They’re also hitting .281 with an .800 OPS over their last 6 games. As you can recall from the HR prop the other day, the highly touted Elly De La Cruz got the call up and he’s been dominant at the plate.
