Blake Snell has been in Cy Young form. He's allowed just 2 ER in his last 5 starts combined. Across those 30 innings he's allowed just 14 hits and has struck out 45 batters. He's fresh off back to back 12 strikeout performances as well. He threw 6 scoreless against the Rays in his last start and 7 Innings of 1 Run ball at Coors Field the start prior. He gave up a solo homerun.
He's allowed a BA of just .111 and a WHIP of .68 through 3 June Starts. He's made 6 career starts vs SF and has a 2.51 ERA. This if the first time he'll face them in 2023. In 3 starts vs SF in 2022 he allowed just 2 ER across 17.1 IP. The Giants offense is considerably worse vs LHP too. They have a Team OPS of .762 vs RHP but that drops to .727 vs LHP.
Alex Wood starts for SF and he has a 6.0 ERA pitching at Home. He hasn't been able to complete 5 innings in any of his Home starts this season. As strong as the Giants bullpen has been they've heavily taxed. They had a Bullpen game on Monday and a Bullpen game yesterday. 5 of their 9 bullpen arms have thrown at least 40+ pitches the last 3 days. Their Closer Duval has thrown 37 in 3 of the last 4 days. Jacob Junis(5.56 ERA in June) is the only pitcher that didn't pitch yesterday that can throw today.
Wood's last Home start saw him surrender 6ER in 4.1 Innings of work against PIT. The Home start prior he allowed 4 ER in 4.2 IP against MIA. He made 3 Home starts vs SD last year and pitched to an 8.25 ERA. With the return of Tatis this Padres lineup is starting to mash against LHP. They currently rank 8th hitting .250 with an OPS of .768 vs LHP. Considerably stronger than their .221/.689 vs RHP.
