7:10pm est: Red Sox Moneyline +120 (3 Units)

Tyler Glasnow is making his 2nd start of the season. In the first he allowed 3 ER through 4.1 IP against the Dodgers. He threw 83 pitches against LA, 55 of them strikes. Not the worst season debut but it could have been worse. 80% of balls put in play were hard hit. He allowed 8 hard hit balls in total. He did strike out 8 batters but that’s his M.O. That also makes it difficult to pitch deep into games. High strikeout totals tend to push the pitch count. Despite being a staple of the Rays for the last few years, the bullpen is not so great in 2023. Their 4.32 ERA ranks 22nd in the Bigs and they’re just 17 for 28 on Save Opportunities.

The Red Sox offense has started to wake up. They tallied 32 Hits and 9 walks in their 3-game set against the Reds. Much of that was done against a quality Reds bullpen. A large part of that is playing at home where they rank 2nd. Only the #1 scoring offense (Rangers) have a higher OPS at home than Boston does and it’s by .003.

Garret Whitlock makes his 5th start but his 2nd from an IL stint. He was dominant in his Rehab assignments and returned to the Bigs at Arizona on May 27th. He allowed just 1 ER (Solo HR) over 5 innings. Last season he pitched to a 3.23 ERA at Fenway, and he held the Angels to just 1 ER through 7 IP in his lone home start of 2023. The Rays offense hasn’t been so hot either, hitting just .223 and slugging .331 over their last 5 games. They rank 26th in OPS over the last week.

8:10pm est: Angels Moneyline +115 (3 Units)

Shoehei takes the mound for LAA and he’s dominated this Astros lineup the past couple years. He did make a home start vs HOU on May 9th and allowed 3 ER on 7 IP. He gave up 6 Hits and 2 walks. Unfortunately, 5 of those came in the top of the 5th where HOU scored all 3 runs. Ohtani went through a tough 4 game stretch that saw him allow 5 ER, 4 ER, 3 ER (vs HOU), then 5 ER. He’s back to form allowing just 1 ER in each of his last 2. He made 5 starts against HOU last year and allowed just 4 ER combined. Good for a 1.22 ERA. This Astros lineup also ranks 26th when batting at home.

HOU Ace Framber Valdez will be on the mound, but he’s struggled at home vs the Angels. Going back, 2ER on 6IP, 6 ER on 4.1 IP in 2022. 4 ER on 5 IP 2021. 4 ER on 7IP in 2020. This is his first home start vs the Angels in 2023. LA’s offense ranks 5th over the past week as they’ve mashed 11 homeruns during that span. They’re also tied for 4th with the Cubs vs Left-Handed Pitching.
