The Marlins are 1-10 this season and have Lefty AJ Puk on the mound today. Puk's long been a relief guy but was thrust into a starters role with all the injuries to Miami's rotation. He's 0-2 with a 9.0 ERA, .320 opponent BA, and 2.83 WHIP. He's walked 9 batters in 6 innings and this Yankees lineup is patient. They have a .344 OBP so far this season which would have tied the Braves for first in 2023. They also have a .393 OBP vs LHP this year. Yankees start Ace Carlos Rodon who has a 2.79 ERA in 2 starts. He faces a Marlins lineup that ranks dead last in OPS vs Lefties. Yankees bullpen also got reloaded after Nestor Cortes threw an 8 inning gem last night.
7:07PM EST: SEA/TOR Under 8 (5 Units).
Two of last years best pitchers have gotten off to not so great starts. SEA SP George Kirby pitched 6.2 shutout innings in his debut but got blasted for 6ER against Cleveland his last start. He's got a history of letting up some ugly numbers whenever he's off but he responds. He's allowed 1ER or less in 6 or his 7 career starts following an outing allowing 5 ER or more. The lone exception came the first time it happened in 2022, his rookie year. TOR SP Chris Bassitt has allowed 4 ER in back-to-back road starts. This is his first Home Start and he pitched to a 2.86 ERA at the Rogers Centre last year. His velocity hasn't dipped and his spin rates are actually better compared to last season. Just a matter of when he locks it in and we like it to happen here. Toronto has a .676 OPS and Seattle .635 over the last week.
