STL SP Kyle Gibson has been decent but still has a 4.58 ERA in his last 7 starts. Colorado plated 3 runs on 8 hits and 2 walks across 6 IP against Gibson in St. Louis earlier this season. The Cardinals have used their best relievers through the first 2 games so some lesser arms are due for some work. COL SP Kyle Freeland has a 2.97 ERA in his last 6 starts. He also has a 3.75 ERA in 9 starts at Coors Field. The one Cardinal with strong numbers against Freeland is his former teammate Nolan Arenado and he's out of the lineup. Cardinals rank 25th in OPS on the season vs LHP.
7:05PM EST: BAL/NYY Over 8 (2 Units). Two starters one would link to an Under play but Burnes has a 3.82 ERA since the All-Star Break and Cole has a 5.08 ERA at Yankees Stadium. Cole's last 3 Home Starts against the Orioles; 2ER on 4IP, 5ER on 5IP, and 5ER on 8IP. When he struggles it's via the long ball and that's one of the things Baltimore's best at. Burnes turned in a good outing in his most recent road start but that was against Detroit. He allowed 14 runs combined in his last 3 road starts leading up to that. He also pitched just 5 innings in 2 of those 3 and 6 in the third. The Baltimore bullpen has really struggled of late and gave up 4 runs in the 9th yesterday, nearly blowing a 9-3 lead. The Yanks have scored 6 runs on Baltimore's bullpen and have gotten a look at all their best relievers through the first 2.
