3 Picks (10 Units).
6:40PM EST: ATH/WSH First 5 Under 4.5 -115 (3 Units),
LP: L. Severino (ATH) / M. Gore (WSH).
Luis Severino has a 3.03 ERA in 10 road starts. He's allowed 2 Runs or less in all but 2 of them and those came in back-to-back appearances. He's allowed 2 ER or less in 4 straight starts. Washington is dead last in OPS over the last week. Mackenzie Gore has struggled with consistency of late, but he has yet to allow more than 2 ER in back-to-back starts this season. He's allowed 2 ER or less in 7 of 9 Home starts this year. 8 of the 21 Earned Runs he's allowed at Home this year came in one start. The Athletics are 11th in OPS vs LHP but they traded away the best bat vs LHP at the deadline. Miguel Andujar had a .422 BA and 1.036 OPS vs LHP for the A's.
7:10PM EST: Royals ML +205 (4 Units).
Ryan Bergert is making his first start for the Royals after being traded by San Diego at the deadline. He has a 2.78 ERA in 11 games (7 starts). He's not one for length and KC doesn't need it. Their bullpen has been very good all year (9th in ERA) and only Taylor Clarke has thrown more than once the last 5 days. Veteran SP Michael Wacha is slated to start for KC tomorrow, and they have off on Thursday. KC's fighting for a wildcard spot and in position to "steal" this game if Bergert can provide a few good frames. The Red Sox have never faced him before, so he has that working for him early. BOS SP Garrett Crochet may be approaching an innings limit. He flamed out towards the end of last season and he's currently at 141 IP on 22 starts. He pitched 146 total innings last year but on 32 starts. He posted a stellar 1.73 ERA in 4 July starts but the cracks are showing. He's allowed at least 8 hits in 4 of his last 5 starts. He allowed 10 or more baserunners in 3 of his 4 July starts. He tossed 9 shutout innings against TB but hasn't pitched past the 6th inning in 4 of his last 5.
9:40PM EST: Diamondbacks ML +115 (3 Units).
LP: Y. Darvish (SD) / R. Nelson (AZ).
Yu Darvish looked like his old self his last time out but that was his first good start this season and it also came at Home. He has a 6.46 ERA through 5 starts despite 7 shutout innings last week. Darvish has struggled against this Diamondbacks roster, allowing a .265 BA and .373 wOBA in 141 career plate appearances. Arizona's still playing hard despite selling at the deadline. They've won 3 straight games scoring 6 or more in each. AZ SP Ryne Nelson has a 1.95 ERA over his last 9 starts. Arizona has a couple of red hot relievers and they had off yesterday.scoring 6 or more in each. AZ SP Ryne Nelson has a 1.95 ERA over his last 9 starts.
