2 Picks...
2:15PM EST: Brewers ML -130 (2 Units).
MIL SP Freddy Peralta has a 3.66 ERA on the road this season. He's faced STL twice, recording two quality starts and allowing just 4ER combined. He's coming off 6 innings of 1 run ball on 81 pitches at Home against the Guardians. Milwaukee's bullpen stumbled for the first time in a long-time last night as Closer Devin Williams blew his first save of the season. He'll be unavailable tonight but there's plenty of high leverage arms to use. STL SP Miles Mikolas has a 6.53 ERA at Home this season and a 9.22 ERA in 3 August Starts. He gave up 5 runs at Home vs MIL and 3 more in Milwaukee earlier this year. Every Cardinals reliver has thrown through the first 2 games of this series. The Brewers have scored 5 earned runs on them thus far. 3:37PM EST: TB/OAK Under 7.5 (3 Units).
TB SP Jeffrey Springs was activated off the IL on July 28th after a lengthy Tommy John recovery. He made 12 minor league rehab appearances before being called up and has made 4 MLB starts since, improving in each outing. He allowed 1 run on 4 hits across 5 IP vs AZ his last time out and 1 run on 6 hits across 5 IP vs BAL the start prior. BAL and AZ rank 2nd and 3rd in OPS vs LHP too. Springs joined the Rays starting rotation in 2022, making 25 starts. He made 3 starts in 2023 before being shut down with TJ surgery. He had a 2.43 ERA in those 28 starts. The A's have scored just 9 runs in their last 5 games combined. They're hitting just .184 with a .513 OPS over that span.
OAK SP Osvaldo Bido has a 1.0 ERA in 3 August starts against the Dodgers, Blue Jays, and Giants. All 3 were quality starts. He's allowed just 3 hits in his last 2 starts combined. Tampa's scored 5 runs through the first 3 games of this 4-game set. They also rank 29th in BA and 30th in OPS in the Month of August.
Both teams have good bullpens that are performing well. Despite this being the 4th game of this series, no reliever has thrown more than once the last 3 days either.
