4 Picks (12 Units).
1:10PM EST: Tigers ML +105 (3 Units).
LP: F. Valdez (HOU) / C. Morton (DET).
Valdez has a 4.22 ERA on the road this season. He's allowed 4 runs or more in 3 of his last 4 road starts. Detroit ranks 5th in OPS vs LHP this season. DET SP Charlie Morton has recorded a quality start in 4 of his last 5. The Tigers bullpen is also in much better shape than Houston's going into today.
7:35PM: Rays ML -120 (3 Units).
LP: C. Schlittler (NYY) / D. Rasmussen (TB).
Schlitter has a 3.0 ERA on 3 August starts, pitching 5 innings in each. He's been solid but this will be the first time in his young MLB career that he faces a team for the 2nd time. TB tagged him for 3 runs on 7 hits and 4 walks across 4.1 IP on July 28th. TB SP Drew Rasmussen has a has a 2.08 ERA over his last 7 starts. He's allowed just 1 run through 3 August starts. He's owned this Yankees roster, limiting them to a .161 BA and .195 wOBA on 62 career plate appearances.
8:05PM EST: MIL/CHC Under 7 (3 Units).
LP: J. Misiorowksi (MIL) / C. Rea (CHC).
Fly ball pitchers with 20+ MPH winds blowing in at Wrigley. Misiorowksi struggled with command in his first start back from a brief IL stint, but we like those kinks to be worked out. He's not on a pitch count and the Brewers top relievers are fresh after losing both games of the doubleheader yesterday. Colin Rea has a 2.3 ERA on 3 August starts. He's allowed 2 runs or less in 10 of his 14 home games. His bad starts at Home come when the winds blowing out and they’re ugly.
8:40PM EST: Rockies ML +260 (3 Units).
LP: S. Ohtani (LAD) / T. Gordon (COL).
Ohtani has a career 4.09 ERA on 43 road starts. He has a 4.38 ERA on 4 road starts this season. He allowed 4 ER on 4.1 IP @ LAA in his most recent start. He threw 80 pitches his last time out after a season high of just 54 the week before. This will also be his first career start at Coors Field. COL SP Tanner Gordon has pitched quite well at Home this season. The Blue Jays got to him but if you exclude that start, he has a 3.47 ERA on 4 home starts. He faced the Tigers, Yankees, Cardinals, and Diamondbacks in those 4 starts. Neither bullpen's great but that's where the variance plays into this value. Ohtani has yet to provide length, and Coors Field is just Coors Field. The Rockies have put up plenty of crooked numbers at Home since the break and against some good pitching.
