He has a 3.96 ERA at AAA this year and has been a career minor leaguer for the most part. Antonio Senzatela's set to return after being sidelines by a blister. He has a 7.34 ERA in 22 games this year. He also has a career 5.61 ERA in 23 games against Arizona. The bottom half of the 26th and 30th ranked bullpens will be pitching in this one today. Those bullpens also traded away some of their best relievers at the deadline.

Darvish will be making his 8th start of the year since coming off the IL in July. They've been cautious with him, not letting him throw more than 84 pitches. He should be feeling pretty good at this point. He threw 6 innings of 1 run ball @ SF his last time out. He did struggle at Arizona 2 starts back but tossed 7 shutout innings against the Mets the start prior to that. He has some of the best career numbers against the Dodgers in baseball history. He has a 2.27 ERA in 15 starts against the Dodgers with 11 of those 15 starts coming at Dodgers stadium. In 209 career plate appearances the current Dodgers roster has a .194 BA and .273 wOBA against Darvish. Having dropped the first 2 of this 3 game set the Padres best relievers are available. Jason Adam (1.68 ERA), Adrian Morejon (1.96 ERA), and closer Robert Suarez (3.16 ERA, 33 SV) haven't pitched since Tuesday. They're in great shape to shut this Dodgers offense down and avoid the sweep.
