4 Picks. 4:05PM EST: A's Team Total Over 3.5 -125 (3 Units). Oakland's gone over this total in 7 of 10 July games and are averaging over 6 runs per game during that span. They put up 4 on Ranger Suarez alone yesterday. Rookie Tyler Phillips starts for Philly. He made his MLB debut last week and broke a 123-year-old record. His 7 strikeouts were the most by any player making his MLB debut as a reliever. Impressive, but he has a career 5.19 ERA in AAA. He has a 4.89 ERA in AAA this season and posted a 4.06 ERA down there in the Month of June with an opponent BA of .266. He had a 6.61 ERA in the Month of May. Oakland has tape to prepare with, they're red-hot, and he's really not all that anyway. 4:05PM EST: NYY/BAL Under 8.5 (4 Units).
NYY SP Luis Gil hit a rough patch with some command issues, but he returned to form tossing 6.2 innings of 1 run ball against Boston his last time out. He leads the league in opponent BA and has allowed 2 hits or fewer in half of his starts this year. Baltimore's offense has really struggled in July, averaging less than 3 runs per game and scoring just 3 over their last 4 combined.
BAL SP Grayson Rodriguez is living up to the hype of former #1 overall pitching prospect. He has a 2.27 ERA pitching at Home and has allowed 3 runs or less in 13 of his 16 starts. He's faced NY twice in his career, once in each of the last 2 seasons, shutting them out each time. 7:15PM EST: ATL/SD Under 7.5 (2 Units).
ATL SP Reynaldo Lopez would lead the league in ERA if he qualified. He has a 1.71 ERA this season and has allowed 1 run or less in 10 of his 16 starts. He's allowed more than 2 runs just once and it came back in April. The Padres offense has scored just 5 runs over their last 4 games and rank 29th in OPS in July.
SD SP Dylan Cease has battled some consistency issues but boasts a 3.69 ERA at Home. He's allowed 3ER or less in 6 of 9 Home starts and 4ER or less in 8 of 9. His most recent outing was a quality start, allowing 3 runs across 7IP at Home to a hot Diamondbacks offense. He tossed 7 scoreless against the Nationals allowing just 1 hit in the Home start prior as well.
10:10PM: TOR/AZ Under 9 (2 Units).
TOR SP Jose Berrios has had a tough go of it in the Month of July, allowing 4 and 5 ER. This is a man who's allowed 2 ER or less in 12 of his 19 starts. You also have to go back to 2018 for the last time Berrios allowed more than 3 ER in 3 consecutive starts. Arizona's bats have also cooled considerably after a hot start to July. They stole one from Toronto last night, scoring 5 runs on just 6 hits. 2 reliable relievers; Trevor Richards and Chad Green just lost the strike zone at the end of the game. They allowed a combined 3 runs on just 1 hit and 5 walks. Prior to yesterday's game Arizona’s scored 1 and 2 runs in 2 of their last 3 games. They have just 25 hits combined over their last 4 games.
ARI Rookie Yilber Diaz makes his 2nd MLB start after dazzling in his debut, holding ATL to 1 run across 6 innings. He racked up 13K's over 6 shutout innings in his final AAA start before being called up. He was robbed of a win and us a +160 ticket and Perfect 3-0 night after a blown 2-run save with nobody on and 2 outs in the 9th. With yesterday's come from behind win the Diamondbacks top relievers got the night off and can back Diaz tonight.
