4 Picks (14 Units).
4:10PM EST: Mariners ML -110 (4 Units).
LP: B. Woo (SEA) / F. Valdez (HOU).
SEA SP Brayan Woo has a 2.65 ERA through 9 starts. He had a 2.89 ERA in 22 starts last season. He's faced Houston twice in his career, allowing 3 combined ER on 11.2 IP. The current Astros roster has a .206 xBA and .214 xwOBA in 26 career plate appearances against Woo. Seattle's elite bullpen is fully loaded.
HOU SP Framber Valdez is as good as it gets but he's struggled against the Mariners the past few years. He has a 4.95 ERA in 8 starts vs Seattle dating back to the 2023 season. The current Mariners roster has a .274 xBA, and .343 xwOBA in 249 career plate appearances vs Valdez. Houston also boasts an elite bullpen but half of them have thrown twice the last 3 days.
7:15PM EST: Dodgers/Mets Over 8.5 (3 Units)
LP: T. Gonsolin (LAD) / D. Peterson (NYM).
LAD SP Tony Gonsolin has a 4.05 ERA in 4 starts since coming off the IL. He recorded a quality start in his first start of 2025 but has labored in the last few, failing to pitch past the 5th inning. He needed 97 pitches to complete just 4 innings against the Angels his last time out. He allowed 4 ER on 4 hits and 5 walks. Gonsolin has walked 9 batters in his 3 May Starts (14 IP) combined. The Mets offense has struggled some of late, but they have 20 walks in their last 5 games. They're 6th in walks per game on the year. The current Mets roster has a .296 xBA, .498 xSLG, and .356 xwOBA in 41 career plate appearances vs Gonsolin.
NYM SP David Peterson has a 2.86 ERA but an xERA of 3.99. If there's a spot for those numbers to even out a bit it's here. The Dodgers are 3rd in OPS vs LHP this season and they've had Peterson's number. The current Dodgers roster has a .343 xBA, .604 xSLG, and .420 xwOBA in 99 career plate appearances vs Peterson. Peterson's sporting a 5.74 ERA in 4 career games (3 starts) against the Dodgers.
Last night's game going 13 innings also comes into play here. The Mets threw every reliever they had yesterday, and the Dodgers used all but 1. Certainly won't see any top relievers from the trailing team in this game.
10:05PM EST: Athletics ML +150 (4 Units).
LP: C. Sanchez (PHI) / J. Springs (ATH).
Sanchez has a 3.1 ERA through 9 starts but he's on the road. His road ERA is good but he had a 5.02 ERA in 14 road starts last year. Deeper dive through his 4 road starts suggests some regression coming. He allowed 1 ER on 6.1 IP in his first road start @ STL, but surrendered 8 hits and 2 walks. He allowed 2 ER on 2 IP @ NYM in his 2nd. He tossed 6 shutout in TB against a Rays offense that's 24th in OPS on the season and 27th in OPS vs LHP. His 4th and final road start was at Coors Field, allowing 3 ER on 6 IP. He's been much more dominant at Home this year, as he was last year. The Athletics continue to lose games, but their offense has been productive. They've scored 3 or more in each of their last 5 games and rank 9th in OPS over the last week. They're 6th in OPS vs LHP on the season too.
ATH SP Jeffrey Springs could have started yesterday but they opted to call up Jacob Young and give Springs an extra day off. The fellow Southpaw allowed just 1 run on 7 IP vs Philly yesterday. Jeffrey Springs has a 1.46 ERA through 4 May starts. He threw just 84 pitches against the Giants his last time out. The Phillies have 12 career plate appearances vs Springs with a .136 xBA. The A's bullpen has been a mess of late, but Springs has pitched 6.2 and 7 innings in his last 2 starts. The Phillies bullpen hasn't been great either and the A's chased closer Jordan Romano out of the game in the 9th yesterday. He, along with reliever Matt Strahm will be unavailable tonight.
10:07PM EST: Marlins ML +160 (3 Units).
LP: C. Quantrill (MIA) / J. Soriano (LAA).
MIA SP Cal Quantrill had a rough start to 2025, but he has a 3.14 ERA through 3 May Starts. 2 of those 3 starts came against the Dodgers and Cubs. That was the Dodgers for the 2nd straight time after facing them to end April and open May. He had a 4.98 ERA for the Rockies in 29 starts last year. Given the Home venue those are decent numbers. The current Angels roster has a respectable .277 xBA in 89 career plate appearances vs Quantril, but a below average xSLG of .378 and xwOBA of .313. The Marlins really only have 3 relievers you can trust and all 3 last pitched on Wednesday so they’re available.
LAA SP Jose Soriano's has a 3.57 ERA and an xERA of 4.16. Just a tale of two different pitchers with him. At Home he has a 5.95 ERA compared to a 2.35 on the Road. Same story last season, 4.5 ERA at Home with a 2.74 ERA on the Road. The Marlins offense has been solid, ranking 6th in BA and 5th in OPS over the last week. The Angels also have the worst bullpen in baseball and closer Kenley Jansen has thrown 59 pitches the last 5 days. He tossed 23 yesterday. Hunter Strickling is the only Angels reliever with an ERA below 5.0 over the last 30 days and he's made just 3 appearances.
