7:20PM EST: Cubs ML +170 (5 Units).
Jameson Taillon starts for Chicago; he has a 1.13 ERA and hasn't allowed more than 1 run in any of his 4 starts. He went 6 innings in his most recent start and 7.1 the start prior. He also has great career numbers against Atlanta, with a .279 xwOBA in 86 plate appearances. He went into Atlanta in his final regular season start of 2023 and allowed 2 runs on just 3 hits across 6IP. The Atlanta offensive struggles continued last night as they managed just 2 runs, and it was a pair of doubles by their 8 and 9 hitter that paved the way. They knocked Imanaga out early and as such Chicago went to their long relief option Wesneski. He gave up 2 runs immediately but he did pitch the rest of the way. That means the few high leverage and reliable arms for Chicago are fresh and rested.
Chris Sale starts for Boston, and he's pitched well of late, allowing just 2 runs over his last 3 starts. He's coming off a taxing one against his former club, throwing 103 pitches while striking out 10. Both were season highs and there was surely some extra juice going back into Fenway. He has allowed 6 hits in back-to-back starts (11 IP). The Cubs offense couldn't come through last night, but they've been hot and still recorded 10 hard-hit balls. The big ticker is Chicago ranking 3rd in OPS against Left-Handers. Sale had a 4.38 ERA through his first 4 starts, he's hittable. 7:40PM EST: Twins ML +105 (5 Units). Carlos Rodon starts for the Yankees. In 5 road starts has a 4.94 ERA and has pitched just 23.2 innings. He's completed 6 innings in just 1 of them. In 111 career plate appearances this twins roster has a .290 Batting Average against Rodon. Minnesota ranks 3rd in BA and 7th in OPS against Left-Handers too. They're hot, going back they've scored 5, 8, 3, 11, 6, 6. Chris Paddack starts for Minnesota. He has a 1.17 ERA in 4 Home starts. He's allowed just 1 run in his last 3 Home starts combined. The 1 Home start he "struggled" was his first one of the season and it was against the Dodgers. He allowed 2 runs across 4.2 innings pitched. Through 2 May starts he's allowed just 1 run with a .227 opponent BA and 1.06 WHIP. The Yankees offense had a nice series finale against Tampa but they scored just 7 combined runs in the 3 games prior. The Twins also had the day off yesterday so they're very good bullpen is fresh and rested.
