MLB

3 Picks (9 Units).

7:05PM EST: Mets ML +125 (3 Units).

LP: T. Megill (NYM) / C. Rodon (NYY).

Megill has a 3.1 ERA and a 3.37 xERA. The Yankees only have 18 career plate appearances against Megill with a .143 BA. He's struggled to provide length but that's not an issue for us here. The Mets bullpen ranks 4th in ERA and they're fresh from a day off yesterday. The Mets top 3 arms have also had 2 days off. NYY SP Carlos Rodon allowed 4 ER on 6 IP vs the A's his last time out. Rodon has a history of coming up short in the premier spots and this is one of them. It's a cross-town rivalry, Mets are big spenders now and playing well, plus the whole Juan Soto story. This isn't a typical regular season game. The Mets also have 73 career plate appearances against Rodon with a .275 BA and .353 wOBA. The Mets rank 4th in OPS vs LHP this season. The Yankees bullpen has been better since they moved Luke Weaver back to closer but it's significantly worse than the Mets still.

7:40PM EST: Cardinals ML +135 (3 Units).

LP: A. Pallante (STL) / C. Ragans (KC).

Pallante has a 4.36 ERA through 8 starts and makes a living keeping the ball down. His 65.2 Groundball % ranks in the 99th percentile. He's been hurt by the long ball this year, but KC is dead last in AB/HR. Kauffman stadium is also dead last in HR Park Factor. The Royals are 28th with a .581 OPS over the last week. Pallante hit a bit of a rough patch, but he allowed just 2 ER on 7.2 IP at Washington his last time out. Given the matchup we like that success to carry over.

KC SP Cole Ragans has a 4.2 ERA through 8 starts and he's labored quite a bit these last 4 starts. Going back, he's allowed 4 ER on 5 IP vs BOS, 0 ER on 5 IP vs CWS, 4 ER on 3 IP vs COL, and 5 ER on 4 IP at Detroit. He's a very good starter and will likely lock it in sooner rather than later but St. Louis is playing great ball. They're 10-1 their last 11 with a .781 OPS over the last week. They're also 10th in OPS vs LHP on the season.

10:15PM EST: Athletics ML +170 (3 Units).

LP: JP Sears (ATH)

Giants SP Logan Webb is as good as it gets but the As are 5th in OPS over the last week. Athletics starter JP Sears is just capable of matching Webb. He has a 2.8 ERA through 8 starts on the season and a 2.32 ERA in 5 road starts. Giants’ stadium is one of the hardest stadiums to leave and half of Sears earned runs have come via the long ball. The Giants’ offense is batting .226 with a .667 OPS vs LHP. The meat of the Athletics bullpen has been atrocious of late, but they're primed to follow up a good start from Sears. A's reliever Grant Holman has a .75 ERA in his last 9 appearances (12 IP). He's pitched just once over the last 5 days and is running on 2 days off. A's closer Mason Miller hasn't pitched since last Saturday, where he was asked to get a 5 out save against the Yankees. Sears has gone 6 innings or more in 4 of his 5 road starts. He went 5.2 innings in the outlier. The As can shut down this Giants offense tonight.
