Kyle Freeland has thrown it better outside of Coors field as of late. He has a 4.15 ERA over his last 3 road starts and 2 quality starts to show for it. More on par with his career road ERA of 3.98. His pitch style will also play better at Camden Yards. He's been hurt by the long ball and primarily all from right handers. He's allowed 20 HRs to righties, a BA against of .310, and a WHIP of 1.57. Camden yards moved their LF Wall back some 30 feet and on top of that the wall is 13 feet tall. It's significantly reduced the amount of Homeruns over that wall.
The Orioles offense hasn't been too explosive either. They beat up on the Oakland A's but outside of that it's been an average showing. Going back they scored 5, 7, and 3 in the TOR series. Smashed the A's. Scored 2,3 and 4 against SD and 5,1, and 2 against SEA. Will happily take 5 runs scored by the Baltimore Orioles tonight by the way.
BAL starts Cole Irvin. He's been pitching very well. 2.98 ERA over his last 15 games and a 2.76 over his last 7. He has a .64 ERA in the Month of August and faces a terrible LHP hitting lineup too. The Rockies rank 29th with a .673 OPS vs LHP this season. We've touched on how those numbers have been misleading for COL in the past but now it holds true. Kris Bryant is sitting on the IL and they traded Randal Grichuk and CJ Cron to the Angels. They have 2 hitters in tonight's lineup with an OPS over .690 vs LHP and it's Nolan Jones (.793) and Ezequiel Tovar (.771).
This is also an interleague match-up. Colorado (NL) vs Baltimore (AL). There isn't much familiarity or history of at bats against one another's pitching staff either. Always a + for the Pitching.
