It's a bullpen day for both teams and they each have their issues. The meat of these bullpens are both below average. Texas's bullpen also got used up with Max Scherzer leaving the game early with back spasms. They could have used Jon Gray today to patch it to their back half but they needed to do that yesterday. Andrew Heaney will start and he's allowed 4ER across 6IP this post-season. The bottom half of their bullpen pitched in Game 2 against ARI and allowed 5 Runs on just 3IP.
Arizona's bullpen has 3 great arms but the rest are all suspect. Thompson, Ginkel, and Sewald are good. They're fresh and likely to patch together 4 innings of work but those first 5 may be ugly enough to keep them from over extending them. They also pitched the bottom half of their bullpen yesterday since they were trailing and they pitched admirably. But now Texas has seen them. The Rangers offense is just relentless and can score runs quick and in bunches.
There's going to be a ton of pitchers used in this one and a handful that aren't all that good to begin with. Just need a few of them to pitch poorly to push this over the total.
