Week 7 of College Kicks Off with the Sun Belt conference on Wednesday night. The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns take on the Marshall Thundering Herd at 7:30p.m. eastern time.
The Pick
Louisiana +10.5. This is just too many points to give the Ragin Cajuns in what’s going to be a tight, low scoring affair. Louisiana has a stingy defense, they allow just 20.4 points per game and have excelled against the run, holding their opponents starting RB’s to 3.4 yards per carry or less in each of their last 4 games. Which matches up well against a Marshall team that is pretty much one dimensional, they average 224.4 rushing yards per game and have combined to throw for just 263 passing yards the last two weeks. Louisiana’s defense also ranks 2nd in the FBS with 2.8 takeaways a game too, while Marshall has 5 turnovers in it’s last 3 games. For Louisiana, Ben Wooldridge starts at QB, he’s been the better of the 2 Cajuns QB’s, completing 64.9% of his passes to Fields 56.8% and throwing just 1 interception to Fields 3. He’s also run the ball effectively (12 carries for 66 yards last 2 outings), something that will help open up the offense. These two did meet in the New Orleans Bowl last year and the Ragin Cajuns won by a score of 36-21. Louisiana is 5-2 ATS their L7 and are a perfect 7-0 ATS their L7 vs teams with a winning record. Marshall meanwhile is just 2-5 ATS their L7 and 3-7 ATS their L10 vs teams with a losing record. They’re also just 8-25 ATS their last 33 home games.
