Taysom's seen an increase in snaps courtesy of the Juwan Johnson injury. He ran over 33 routes last week, had 8 targets, 7 receptions, and 49 yards. Juwan has been ruled out for this game too. Hill actually has yet to score a TD this year and that's not going to last forever. Last season he had 9 in 16 games, in 2021 he had 5 in 12 games, and in 2020 he had 9 in 16 games.
The Saints have been struggling in the Red Zone and that's where a gadget like Hill comes in handy. He's a tough runner that can throw and catch. Pete Carmichael has been New Orleans offensive coordinator for the last 15 years. He knows how to use Hill. He didn't have to call plays when Sean Payton was there but he did last year. It's the same OC calling plays that dialed up 9 touchdowns for Hill last season.
He got a shiny new toy in QB Derek Carr and got away from old faithful but it's not working. Carmichael's sitting firmly atop the hot seat right now and the play-calling has to be better. Hill's averaging just 4 carries per game this season after averaging nearly 6 in the last 3 seasons combined. Expect to see more of Hill in the Redzone tonight. The Jaguars are tied for 22nd allowing 3.5 red zone scoring attempts per game too.
