No Stroud, Caleb Williams, or any Starters for that matter in this HOF game. Both teams have two very capable backup QBs starting this game. QB Davis Mills was Houston's starter the 2 years prior to Stroud's arrival. He's thrown for just shy of 6K yards with 35 touchdowns and 25 interceptions in his career. He was with Houston last year and knows this offense. He's in a legitimate competition for the number 2 QB spot with Case Keenum but being in a contract year he's also potential trade chip. The Texans WR room is plenty deep and RB Dameon Pierce will suit up. Tyson Bagent will start for Chicago, and he outplayed Fields as a Rookie in 2023. He's also a trade candidate as Caleb Williams is their future. Both of QB's have had success against starting defense. They'll be up against 2's and 3's with basic schemes to start this game. Like this game to get off to a strong start.
As far as the full game goes the Texans have more experience at the QB position and continuity in their coaching staff. When Mills gets pulled, they have journeyman Case Keenum and then 6th year man Tim Boyle. They have the same coaching staff as last year, HC, OC, and DC. Every QB on this Texans roster was with them in 2023 too. The Bears on the other have Brett Rypien who's a 6th year but then Rookie QB Austin Reed. Their QB room isn't as competitive as Houston's either. They have a brand-new coaching staff and training camp's just 9 days in at this point.
