8PM: Oregon/Purdue Over 60.5 (4 Units). Purdue ranks 131st among 134 FBS programs when facing another FBS opponent in points allowed per game and 130th in yards allowed per game. Of Purdue's 5 games against FBS opponents, Nebraska was the only team they held below 38 points. That was an atypical Big 10 snooze fest that the Cornhuskers still scored 28 points in. Purdue's also given up 50+ in back-to-back games. The Ducks offense has scored 30+ in 5 straight games, most recently 32 on a good Ohio State defense.
Oregon has a quality defense but they've given up some sort of points in every game. 13 or more in 5 of 6 with 10 points allowed in the outlier. Ohio State scored 31 and Boise State scored 34 on Oregon. Bit of a let down spot for them playing on the road after the huge win over OSU. Purdue had one of the worst offenses in football through 5 weeks but then they made a QB change. Redshirt Freshman Ryan Browne got the start at Illinois last week and nearly pulled off the upset, losing 49-50 in Overtime on a failed 2 point conversion. He completed 69.2% of his passes for 297 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also added 118 yards on 18 carries. That's a solid Illinois defense too. Bit of a step up here but Browne's a playmaker at QB and given Purdue the spark they needed. They're also at Home hosting the #2 team in the Country. They'll pull out all the stops in an attempt to pull off an upset.
