2 Picks.
9:00PM: Utah State +19 (3 Units), UNLV/Utah State Over 66.5 (4 Units).
Utah State's defense ranks 132nd allowing 48.3 PPG to FBS opponents. Going back, they let up 62 @ Boise, 45 @ Temple, 38 vs Utah, and 48 @ USC. Boise State's the cream of the crop in the Mountain West but Utah and USC are in a higher weight class. Even Temple plays in a much better conference. The Aggies offense has had success with Iowa transfer QB Spencer Petras. He missed the Utah and USC games but completed over 62% of his passes for 665 yards, 5 touchdowns, and 1 interception in their last 2 games @ Temple and @ Boise. Outside of getting shutout on the road at USC without their starting QB this offense has scored just fine. They scored 36 against Robert Morris, 21 on a very good Utah defense without Petras, 29 on the road @ Temple, and 30 on the road @ Boise. They've also done a ton of damage through the air and UNLV just let Syracuse QB Kyle McCord throw for 355 on them last week and Fresno State's Mikey Keane 316 the week prior. Utah State’s seen and scored on better defenses than UNLV’s and they’ve also one it on the road.
UNLV is going to score some points on Utah State’s defense. They've run it well and Hajj-Malik Williams is an incredible athlete at the QB position. He’s started their last 2 games after that NIL dispute with UNLV's original starting QB. This will be his first career start on the road in FBS play after transferring to UNLV this off-season. Not easy to play on the road at any level and that likely causes issues for them tonight. They were penalized heavily in each of their last 2 games.
