A match-up with the Lakers is just what the doctor ordered for a Dallas team that’s lost 2 straight. A Lakers squad they’ve dominated in recent years dealing with a slew of key injuries. Luka Doncic and company have beaten the Lakers in 5 of their last 6 meetings and are 5-0-1 ATS in those games. The one game they lost, Anthony Davis dominated the floor with a +21 +/-. Unfortunately for LA he’s sidelined with a foot injury. Patrick Beverly is also on the wrong side of questionable dealing with an Illness and Hip issue.
The last time these two faced was on Christmas day and as usual, Anthony Davis didn’t play. In his absence Luka Doncic and Center Christian Wood combined for 62 points on 63.6% shooting. Without AD on the floor their pick and roll was unstoppable. Wood shooting 40% from behind the Arc causes fits for a defense. That has to be respected and if they get the switch, Luka is blowing by any big man he’s matched up with. And when the defense crashes to help, Luka dished out 9 assists.
It's just a bad match-up for the Lakers. That’s why Lebron’s Lakers have struggled so mightily against Luka’s Mavericks. Lebron threw up 38 points on Christmas day and they still lost by 9. With AD and a few other quality minutes sitting this one it, it’s more of the same.
