2 Picks (5 Units).
7PM: Florida -2.5 (2 Units).
Strength on Strength matchup here. Florida is 3rd in offensive rating and 36th in defensive rating. Tennessee is 20th in offensive rating and 2nd in defensive rating. Tennessee's played just 1 true road game this season, beating Illinois 66-64. The Illini shot 29.4% from the field. Tennessee's 16 offensive rebounds loomed large and that's an edge they usually have but Florida's the 3rd best rebounding team in the nation. This early in the season with Tennessee's limited road experience, we like the Home Court to make enough of a difference. The Gators offense is good enough to score on anyone, especially at Home, but their defense gets a major boost from the crowd. Florida's also coming off a tough 100-106 road loss at Kentucky their last time out. Not that you really need any extra motivation hosting the number 1 ranked team in the country.
9PM: Auburn -10.5 (3 Units).
The Tigers are ranked 1st in offensive and 14th in defensive rating and they've done that against the 13th ranked strength of schedule. Texas's strength of schedule ranks 354th. They've played just 4 Power 5 teams this year. They lost by 20 to Texas A&M, by 11 to UConn, and by 8 to Ohio State. Their lone win came by 4 over Syracuse. Per KenPom those 4 teams rank 12th, 25th, 32nd, and 125th. Auburn's currently KenPom's number 1 ranked team. Auburn's also gone away from Home and beaten Purdue by 18, UNC by 13, and Houston by 5. Auburn's lone loss came at Duke by 6 points. They play the games for a reason but as long as Auburn shows up here for a full 40 minutes they should handle the Longhorns. The one area Texas really excels is perimeter shooting but Auburn's 23rd in opponent 3-PT Rate. With long Guards/Forwards they do a tremendous job running teams off the 3-PT Line.
