2 Picks

6:09PM EST: Purdue -9 (4 Units).

Just a tough matchup for NC State. The Wolfpacks miraculous run has gone through Big Man DJ Burns. He's an old school Big with incredible touch on his shots. He's 6'9, 275 but Zach Edey's 7'4, 300. Burns has been able to make up for his lack of height through power and size but he won't have that today. Even if he's able to position himself well Zach Edey's just not someone you're backing down and putting a shot up over. The Wolfpack offense runs through Burns and it's just not going to be there for them today. Purdue's a well-oiled machine on both ends of the floor and unless Edey gets into foul trouble they should handle this game well. Edey only averages 1.9 fouls per game and has fouled out just 1 time in his career. It was in his 5th ever collegiate game back in the 2020-2021 season.

8:49PM EST: Alabama +11.5 (3 Units).

UConn has been steamrolling teams in the Tournament, but this is just too many points. The Tide's offense is good enough to hang around and even if they're getting blown out, they can backdoor cover this large number. The Huskies locked down Illinois's top ranked offense but that's because they don't shoot well from outside. Illinois went 6-23 from deep and finished ranked 123rd in 3-PT % this season. Attacking the Rim with Donovan Clingan protecting it is tough work. Alabama's one of the best 3-Pt shooting teams in College Basketball and they play small with all but 1 guy a 3-PT threat. That's going to force Clingan out of the paint defensively and at least allow the Tide offense to go to work. There's a world where Alabama's offense gets hot enough to win this game outright let alone cover 11.5. Unlikely but their offense is that capable. UConn's last loss came at the hands of Creighton courtesy of elite 3-PT shooting.
