The Fighting Irish closed out the season well courtesy of their elite defense. They won 5 of 6 before dropping 2 straight road games @ UNC and @ VT. Notre Dame finished the regular season ranked 27th in Adjusted Defensive Efficiency. Offensively they've had issues all year but they found more success when their defensive intensity ramped up. Georgia Tech's defense isn't a concern either. They're mediocre across the board ranking 139th in Adj O and 138th in Adj D. Notre Dame has already beaten Georgia Tech twice this year as well. On a neutral floor we like Notre Dame's defense to provide enough of an edge. The Tech defense isn't strong to really silence this Irish offense. Notre Dame's offense has traveled just fine over the past month excluding their beatdown @ UNC. That's just an entirely different caliber of program. The overall intensity and physicality tends to pick up in Tournament play as well which generally favors defensive teams. They also foul less frequently and are a much better FT shooting team than Tech should the Refs decide to make this about them.
