Big Bounce back spot for the Wildcats. The last time they played we were on St. Joe's when they won convincingly in Villanova. They get a chance to avenge that loss against a team they should handle. The reason they lost to St. Joe's is because of their 3-Point defense. The Hawks lit them up from deep, making 14 of their 27 3-PT Shots (51.9%). CLICK HERE FOR TO GO THAT POST. Villanova won't have to worry about that today with Drexel though, as they shoot just 23.8% from deep. That ranks 358th out of 362 teams. Their defense has been their strength but they still allowed 72 to Winthrop and 68 to Old Dominion. Nova is a much, much better program than those two.
Justin Moore and Eric Dixon anchor this Villanova roster. Moore is on year 5 and about to make his 100th start and 114th appearance for the Wildcats. Eric Dixon is on year 4 and making his 81st start and 102nd appearance, again, all at Villanova. Outside of those 2 they're still working some new pieces in and trying to make it all fit. They brought in a couple big time transfers and have some younger players of their own. Their inconsistent play makes sense early on in the season.
Make no mistake about it though, this is one of the better teams in College Basketball. They handed a very good North Carolina team their only loss of the season. Going into Villanova has been one of the toughest road trips for a team to make in College Basketball for a very long time. Losing at home their last time out stings and we fully expect these boys to come out ready to play today.
