Jake Odorizzi takes the mound for Atlanta. He posted a solid era of 3.56 in the first half of the season despite really struggling in the month of April. However, he hasn’t been as sharp since the All-Star Break, pitching to a 4.55 era across 6 starts. Despite pitching to the 20th, 27th, 28th, and 29th ranked offenses. His other 2 starts came against the Mets, the 7th ranked offense in which he allowed 8 runs on 14 Hits, 5 Walks, and 1 HBP in just 9.2 IP.
St. Louis Cardinals
The Cardinals are even hotter than the Atlanta Braves are this past month. They’ve won 20 of their Last 6 games and are an impressive 41-22 at Home this season. Their recent hot streak has a lot to do with their #1 ranked offense through the month of August. Their slash line this month: .292/.372/.510. That’s an OPS of .882, 40 points higher than the 2nd ranked Dodgers. They’re averaging 5.92 runs per game and have hit a whopping 41 Home Runs through just 25 games.
Adam “Waino” Wainwright starts for the Cardinals tonight. Despite being 40 years old he’s still shutting down MLB offenses on a regular basis.
