Good spot for Arizona coming off a tough loss at Purdue. Their offense performed just fine, scoring 84 points on 51.6% from the field but Zach Edey and the rest of the Boilermakers proved too much for their defense. There's going to be a ton of points scored in this one with the up-tempo 1st and 3rd ranked scoring offenses meeting, which should help Arizona cover the larger number.
While both offenses can score, the defenses are very much different. Arizona is ranked 3rd in CBB in adjusted defensive efficiency. Sure, they struggled IN Purdue, but Zach Edey is such a unique player to have to defend and it totally unraveled their defense. Alabama on the other hand ranks 105th in AdjD. The Wildcats are going to be able to score at will and from deep. Arizona ranks 22nd at 38.9% from 3 while Alabama ranks 199th in opponent 3-PT %. That was really the difference in Arizona's game against Purdue. They attempted just 16 threes, making 6, compared to Purdue's 10/24 (41.7%). Arizona's also shooting 41.3% from deep at Home this season. Alabama shoots just 33.6% from deep on the road this year.
While this game is technically a neutral site, it's still being played in Arizona just over 100 miles away from their Home Stadium at the Footprint Center. It's going to be a home environment and the Arizona defense will feed off that. The last time they played in front of their fans they dismantled Wisconsin 98-73. They have a high-pressure defense that forces opponents to 14.9 turnovers per game. They're also the #1 rebounding team in the nation. Just a couple ways for them to steal some extra possessions on the Tide. Coming off that loss to Purdue, Arizona's going to play their ass off tonight.
